Naturalistic decision making (NDM) is concerned with the study of how people make decisions in complex real-world settings that can include dynamic, uncertain and continually changing conditions, and can require real-time decisions in urgent situations with significant consequences. NDM topics also include studies of expert reasoning, sensemaking, and cognitive task analysis to design technologies and learning experiences for supporting individual and team performance in complex cognitive work systems.
Paper and poster submissions will be automatically considered for one of two awards, each of which includes a $500 prize:
1. The Gary A. Klein Award for best contribution to NDM Theory
2. The Robert R. Hoffman Award for best contribution to NDM Methodology.

You are invited to submit a proposal to any of the three categories below. Proposals may be research or practice-oriented. Submitters are welcome to submit more than one submission to any of the categories. Submissions are preferred that present an original contribution that advances the science and application of NDM.

We are also accepting proposals for NDM-related interactive learning experiences. These may be workshops, demonstrations, and/or training/learning experiences that include an experiential component for participants. Requirements:
All submissions must be in English and must conform to the prescribed submission guidelines and formats provided. Over-length papers or papers that do not follow the prescribed submission format may be rejected without review or asked to resubmit. All paper and poster submissions must not be in press or under consideration for presentation or publication elsewhere.
All submissions will be screened for relevance by the Events Committee, then reviewed by two senior members of the NDMA.

Submission of all Papers, Posters and Interactive Experiences shall be taken as a commitment to attend the in-person conference. Accepted contributions will only be included in the final conference program if at least one author (paper and poster) or all interactive experience providers register for the in-person conference.
Oral paper presentations will be broadcast for virtual conference participants. Two-minute poster reviews at the beginning of the poster session will also be broadcast.
Accepted papers and posters will be compiled into an NDM Proceedings and distributed to conference attendees, but authors will retain copyright of their work.
